Nyingma meditationsgrupp

”The Three Principal Aspects of the Path” are the basis of all the sutra and tantra practices that you undertake. When your practice is influenced by renunciation, it becomes a cause for achieving liberation, nirvana, when it is influenced by bodhichitta it becomes a cause for achieving omniscience, Buddhahood, and when it is influenced by the correct view of emptiness it becomes and antidote to the cycle of existence, samsara.”- From summary of ”Teachings on Je Tsong Khapa’s Tree Principal Aspects of the Path” by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. http://www.wisdom-books.com/ProductDetail.asp?PID=15469

The Bodhicharyavatara (The way of a Bodhisattva) is one of the most treasured text within the Tibetan tradition. The text was written by the eight-century sage Shantideva. It is remarkably relevant for our times, describing the steps to cultivate courage, caring and joy – the keys to healing ourselves and our troubled world.

The path of the Bodhisattva is open to every one of us and during the course we learn the tools and meditations to transform our lives.

Stephan Wormland is MA in clinical psychology and trained in Gestalt therapy. He has studied and practiced meditation in multible Buddhist traditions for over 30 years. Stephan was a monk in the Tibetan tradition for 11 years, spent five years in meditation retreats, and teaches meditation in Buddhist centers in Europe.

04.00-05.00 Meditation
07.15 Yoga eller skogspromenad
08.15 Frukost
09.30-10.30 Meditation
10.30 Tepaus
11.00-12.00 Meditation
12.30 Lunch
14.00-15.00 Meditation
15.00 Tepaus
15.30-16.30 Meditation
17.00-18.00 Frågestund o undervisning
18.30 Kvällsmat
19.30-20.30 Meditation

Dzogchen Ranyak Patrul Rinpoche, 11 – 12 oktober 2017

Ranyak Patrul Rinpoche with Dzogchen Valley behind

Dzogchen Ranyak Patrul Rinpoche was born in Kham province in Eastern Tibet and has been recognised as a reincarnation of the renowned Dzogchen Master, Dza Patrul Rinpoche by HH Dalai Lama, HH Mindrolling Rinpoche and Dzogchen Rinpoche, among others. Patrul Rinpoche studied at the Dzogchen Shri Singha University, where he graduated with the title Khenpo, equivalent to the PhD in Buddhist Studies in Nyingma school. For more information: http://zpi.patrulrinpoche.net.

We have been fortunate to receive teachings from Patrul Rinpoche for many years since 2001 and we are happy to announce, that Rinpoche is visiting us again this year, despite increasingly full schedule with teachings worldwide. Rinpoche is a contemporary Lama with more than 20 years extensive experience of living in the West and teaching Dharma to Westerners. He is humorous, gentle and humble and he transmits Buddha’s profound wisdom in an accessible way to the contemporary Westerners. Rinpoche speaks excellent English.

Bodhisattva’s view and conduct –
how we can bring it into our path and our daily life

Being a spiritual person is being a real, kind-hearted human, here and now. It does not mean we must ignore or neglect the activities of our daily life or abide in a special dimension. The great heart of a Bodhisattva can be seen throughout a person’s daily life. Through seemingly small, but actually profound actions making one’s life most meaningful and wish-fulfilling.

With the Bodhisattva attitude and conduct of the Six Paramitas every action can become Dharma practice in organic way in one’s own life. Getting up in the morning, eating and going to work become acts of a Bodhisattva. With the motivation of developing a kind heart, through our daily activities we can treasure and reinforce the positive qualities, that are already abiding in each one of us.

Insight into Reality, 29 september – 1 october, Glen Svensson

Originally from Australia, Glen has been a student and practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism since 1995 and graduated from the seven-year Masters Program in Advanced Buddhist Studies of Sutra and Tantra at the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute (Pomaia, Italy) in 2004.

Since 2005 he has taught and led meditation retreats in India, Europe, North America and Australia with a teaching style emphasizing clarity and stressing the integration of philosophical view, meditation and daily life conduct.

Insight into Reality

(The theory and practice of emptiness)

The underlying cause of our suffering is our mental afflictions such as attachment, anger and jealousy. And our mental afflictions come from our distorted view of reality – a misunderstanding of how we exist and how the world around us exists. So if we want to overcome our mental afflictions and suffering we must gain insight into the nature of reality.

During this weekend course, we will begin on Friday evening by introducing four ways in which we have a distorted view of reality and also look at how our distorted view of reality is the root cause of our mental afflictions and suffering.

Then over the weekend we will look at how to establish the correct view of reality. In particular we will look at the view of emptiness and then on that basis learn how to meditate on emptiness in order to overcome our mental afflictions and suffering. And then finally how to integrate this into our daily life.

And to give a balance to our practice of emptiness we will also look at the practices of the Four Immeasurables. In particular the practices of loving-kindness and compassion.

This weekend is suitable for both beginners and those already established in the practice of Emptiness.

Studybook:
We will us “Transforming Adversity into Joy And Courage” by Geshe Jampa Tegchok as our studybook. It includes he root text in 37 short verses and can be ordered online:
http://www.adlibris.com/se/bok/transforming-adversity-into-joy-and-courage-9781559392327

Finding an authentic way to relate to traditional Buddhist practices and texts can be difficult for us in the west. The practices and texts are incredibly powerful, but being from a different cultural context from where the practices originated, makes it difficult to move beyond intellectual understanding and perfunctory repetition towards allowing them to touch our hearts and transform our lives as they are meant to.

For those who are on the Buddhist path, finding ways to work authentically and intimately with practices and texts is very important otherwise much of our study and practice can remain disappointingly superficial. Where we wish to transform to be of benefit, we are still stuck and despite our many hours of study and practice our goal of becoming kinder, gentler more open hearted remains elusive.

Introduction to Tantra, Geshe Tashi, 5-7 May 2017

Lharampa Geshe Tashi Tsering

Geshe Tashi was born in Purang in the far West of Tibet and fled to India at a very young age with his parents. In 1988, he graduated from Mey college of Sera monastery, as one of the first monks with the highest honour, that of the Geshe Lharampa degree.

In the 1990s he came to Europe to teach in Buddhist centres of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition http://www.fpmt.org, first to Nalanda monastery in France and then Jamyang Buddhist Centre London.

He has been based at Jamyang Buddhist Centre for over 20 years now where he has developed a FPMT foundational Study course known as the Foundation of Buddhist Thought.
Introduction to Tantra

Tantra is described as the quickest path to Enlightenment in Buddhist practice. Upon entering the tantric path, it is of great importance to first have a good foundation in Sutras, as well as proper guidance by a qualified Tantric Master throughout the entire path.

Westerners might have many questions about Buddhist Tantra, when they first encounter the colourful tantric images and read the veiled language in tantric texts. With his extensive knowledge and experience, Geshe Tashi will explain the meaning and symbolism of the tantric deities, mandalas and tantric initiations, as well as giving introduction to the various types of Tantra and stages of tantric development. There will be possibility to ask questions about this profound subject in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Geshe Tashi will also go through a simple tantric compassion practice written by the Dalai Lama, using it to unpack the building blocks common to all such visualization techniques.

The course is introductory and suitable for both beginners and long-time practitioners.

For this weekend course, we can recommend you a book, covering the subject introduction to Tantra, written by Geshe Tashi Tsering, Tantra: Volume 6 the Foundation of Buddhist Thought.
You can also buy this book at our Association, Föreningen för Tibetansk Buddhism I Göteborg for 150 kr.

Samatha (stillness) meditation by Venerable Sungrab Woeser, 2 – 4 June 2017

All being’s mind is basically tranquil, peaceful and stable in its nature. Not knowing this brings us into restless and unstable states of mind, where happiness and suffering interchange. But by practicing meditation, wisdom and developing our goodness we can return to our primordial state of mind.

Shamatha (stillness) meditation is the basis for all other meditations, as it empowers our indispensable concentration and awareness. Consequently, Shamatha directs our mind to the treasure of wisdom, the experience of our Innate nature of peace and tranquillity. This again, leads to blissful and balanced state of mind, within which we are able to develop the power of unbiased compassion, love, joy and equanimity, for ourselves and for all other sentient beings. This balanced and blissful state of mind weakens the negative state of minds, which could otherwise lead to suffering.

During this weekend, Venerable Sungrab will mainly teach Shamatha meditation and other guided meditations. He will give instructions on Shamatha and some explanations on basic wisdom and Metta (friendliness) meditation.
