Originally from Australia, Glen has been a student and practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism since 1995 and graduated from the seven-year Masters Program in Advanced Buddhist Studies of Sutra and Tantra at the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute (Pomaia, Italy) in 2004.

Since 2005 he has taught and led meditation retreats in India, Europe, North America and Australia with a teaching style emphasizing clarity and stressing the integration ​of philosophical ​view, meditation and daily life conduct.

 

Insight into Reality

(The theory and practice of emptiness)

The underlying cause of our suffering is our mental afflictions such as attachment, anger and jealousy. And our mental afflictions come from our distorted view of reality – a misunderstanding of how we exist and how the world around us exists. So if we want to overcome our mental afflictions and suffering we must gain insight into the nature of reality.

During this weekend course, we will begin on Friday evening by introducing four ways in which we have a distorted view of reality and also look at how our distorted view of reality is the root cause of our mental afflictions and suffering.

Then over the weekend we will look at how to establish the correct view of reality. In particular we will look at the view of emptiness and then on that basis learn how to meditate on emptiness in order to overcome our mental afflictions and suffering. And then finally how to integrate this into our daily life.

And to give a balance to our practice of emptiness we will also look at the practices of the Four Immeasurables. In particular the practices of loving-kindness and compassion.

This weekend is suitable for both beginners and those already established in the practice of Emptiness.
